Why You Need a Skill that can Make You Money ASAP
The cost of living is continuing to rise
I stress an unhealthy amount over money.
I’m in a decent spot right now, (I can pay rent and buy food) but I want to have a lot more money. With the impact of covid, we all learned first hand how job security is a myth.
When machines can do your job the same or better than you, companies do not hesitate in letting you go without a second thought. You can look at the automatic self-checkout machines that plague grocery and department stores today.
This is a big reason why I stress. With living on one income source, all it takes is for someone to decide that I am longer worth the pay they are giving me. I understand that I need to produce results in order to get paid, but there’ll come a day when technology can do more than me and for cheaper.
It’ll be on this day that I am let go. Not a day earlier or later. When they can get rid of my salary and healthcare coverage, they will. They are in business to make money. Don’t hate the player, hate the game.
This is why learning a real skill is so important. Netflix sent me another email recently that they are once again raining their prices. it’s been happening more and more as of late.
Instead of complaining about the price increase, I try to focus on the fact that I need to make more money. It’s easier said than done, but making more money is at least something I can control.
This is why I recently paid 1000 dollars to take a course online which will hopefully allow me to make more money. The point is to get my skill level up so that I can make more money and not be so dependent on a job.
I still need to work to be able to survive until I acquire the skill, but in the end, it'll be worth it.
As the world becomes more automated, people who don’t have skills will be thrown away.
You should go back and read that again.
In this case, only money-making skills matter. If you have a hidden talent but can’t find a way to monetize it, it’s not a skill. People who don’t have a skill like cashiers at the store will be replaced by the cheaper option.
I heard before that everyone needs to identify three skills that they have that can make them money.
You don’t have to be an expert in the area. But you should have some kind of natural ability in the area that you can improve in. You want to take a strength and get better at that.
What you don’t want to do is take an area in which you have no natural ability and work hard at that. The reason is that although you’ll get better in that area, you probably won’t get to the point where you can make serious money.
If you work at something you already have some natural ability in, you’ll get much more of a return on your investment.
Identify what you have talent in and work on that. You will only have three areas max in which you have a natural ability that can also make you money.
Think about your areas and choose one to hone in on.
Learn the skills and make enough money that you can be self-sufficient and not get thrown away. As technology gets better and the price of everything continues to rise, it will be obvious you need a skill.
