Short version: it’s worth it

Why I Started Using Them In The First Place

I began researching pre-cooked meal delivery services for a few reasons. One was because I despise food shopping with a passion. I also despise cooking and the clean-up that comes with it.

I do love to eat, though.

So what does one do in the year 2022? Turn to Google to research some delivery services to solve all my problems. I looked at BlueApron, Freshly, and a few other major ones.

I found all of these to be too expensive or had food that looked like it was not so fresh.

I Then Stumbled Acccross Sunbasket.

What caught my attention right off the bat was the price. They give you a generous discount on your first few orders. For 10 meals, it only cost me a total of $100.

That meant for me and my significant other to eat dinner for the week, we would only have to pay $50 apiece. This comes out to $200 a month for both of us.

This is far below what we normally pay for groceries in a month. Plus, no cooking or cleaning.

The meals look good and seemed healthy. They give you a detailed description of each meal. You know exactly what you’re getting and they make sure to alert you if the meal may contain a common allergy.

What caught my eye was the fact that I could pronounce every ingredient on every meal. The meals are not frozen and are always fresh.

(Portion) Size Does Matter

One of my biggest concerns was that the proportions would be too small. I thought I would be buying a snack and end up cooking every night.

With the first week over, I think this is my biggest complaint.

This is not to say the meals are small. I think I just normally eat to the point where I’m so full it hurts. Yes, I have problems. After the meal is finished, I am mostly full if not completely.

A little while later I usually have something small. This may include a sandwich or popcorn or something like that. I’m then good for the rest of the night.

Each meal has around 600 calories. To be honest, I don’t know if that’s a lot or not, so take that as you will.

Each meal also has a good amount of sodium in it. A good amount being about 50% of your recommended intake for the day. I’m not a doctor, but if you work out and drink a lot of water this shouldn’t be an issue.

My Suggestion

I recommend trying them for a week. If you don’t like it, you can cancel at any time and start back up without any issues.

They send out a list of meals to choose from weekly, so you know exactly what you’re getting.

I would say to try them for a week and see what you think. If you don’t like it, you can cancel and will have spent $100. I’m glad I tried it and I will continue to use them for the foreseeable future.
