Emotions. Can’t live with them, can’t live without them.

Emotions are good and they are bad. They allow us to enjoy life. Some of our greatest memories are those when our emotions were the most powerful.

They can also make up some of our worse memories.

Like the time we got too drunk and made a life-changing decision.

Or when we find out our spouse was cheating and responded with anger.

All of us have examples of emotions when they were great and when they were followed with bad intentions.

Learn to control your emotions and feel your confidence grow.

Self-Care

Make sure you are taking the time to recharge.

Too much work and no play leads to stress and burnout. This then leads to negative emotions coming out and affecting everything in your life.

Learn to take time to get in touch with yourself.

Keep Healthy Relationships

This might be the most important factor in controlling your emotions.

Having the right people around you when you need them is crucial to feeling positive and keeping yourself in check.

The right people can see a change in you and can step up when something needs to be said.

In turn, you can do the same for them.

People generally make up our happiest memories and at times our worse memories.

Choose your relationships carefully.

Take Deep Breaths

When shit hits the fan, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed.

You feel like you lost control of the situation and there is nothing for you to do anymore.

In times like this, you need a strategy.

What I like to do is take deep breaths. Inhale for several seconds and hold it for a few seconds.

Then breathe out slowly.

Focus on this and it will help you feel more in control when life throws you a curveball.

Take A Walk

Exercise releases dopamine.

If possible, take a walk when you feel yourself getting emotional.

Don’t listen to music or look at your phone.

Just walk and appreciate the moment.

It’s nice to break away from the mundane tasks we do daily and get some exercise in at the same time.

Wrap Up

these are good beginner steps.

I encourage you to do further research and try different things to see what works for you.

If you take the above steps, you will be much more in control next time you feel yourself starting to lose it.

Breathing is one tip that can be done anywhere.

You can always focus on your breathing at different points throughout the day, not just when you feel like you are having a breakdown.
