If You Don’t Find Your Purpose You Die

It’s dramatic, but it’s true

There’s a reason why people die shortly after they retire.

We work all of our lives in order to stop working. The dream is to prevent having to go to work and opt for leisurely activities.

The problem is, we can only do this for so long.

If you work for 30 or 40 years straight and then suddenly stop, your body goes into a kind of shock.

While it may not be a medical shock, it is just as deadly.

It is a shock to the soul. People can not survive without a purpose. While hobbies are nice, they are not always sufficient.

This is because they often lack the true meaning that is needed for survival.

I don't remember who said it, but there was a quote that I’ll paraphrase now.

Don't look for work that makes you happy. Look for work that gives you purpose.

Today, many people are working for the end goal of not having to work at all.

They strive for financial independence so that they may sit on a beach for the rest of their lives.

This is a faulty plan that will only end in failure.

It won’t take long before you realize you need purpose in your life.

This is the same reason that explains why many lottery winners end up going broke or killing themselves after a few years of winning.

They no longer have a reason to get out of bed in the morning. Their life becomes filled with pleasure. I imagine it doesn’t feel like you’re living at all anymore.

Stop trying to find happiness.

Look for purpose instead.

Think of something that you would enjoy so much that you wouldn’t mind waking up early for.

This is my golden question to ask when trying to find your purpose.

If you are willing to get up at dawn to pursue a goal, that is your purpose.

If you can prove to yourself that you are willing to sacrifice sleep to achieve your goal, that says a great deal. Most people don’t give up sleep unless they are being forced to.

Few choose to do it by will.
