The sad truth

65% of businesses fail within the first ten years of opening. 50% of people hate their job.

I’ll take my odds and start something new. Something that I enjoy doing and can pass off to my family one day.

I understand why people stay at a job. There are plenty of reasons.

  1. Fear
  2. False sense of security
  3. Hopelessness
  4. Don’t want to be judged
  5. Believe it’s too hard

These are just a few of the reasons people choose to stay at a job they hate instead of trying something new. All of these can be pretty much summed up in that first point.

Fear.

We all feel it more than we would like to in our lives.

We fear changing jobs. We fear telling people what we really want to do with our life. We fear being judged.

We think if we leave our jobs, we will have no way of surviving.

This is true to a point. I wouldn’t recommend quitting your job and going to work on something full-time that is not producing an income. This is especially true if you have a family to support.

If you want to start a business, you need to find a way to make it happen. With all the different things people can do now, starting a business has never been easier.

The barrier to entry is almost non-existent. All you need is an internet connection and a way to post material online.

If you have that, anyone can do anything.

You can make good money over the long term and build something for yourself that lasts forever.

You see people all over the place who have already done that exact thing. There is no reason why you can’t do something similar.

Start off entering your business field free. Do it for a year. See if you really want to put in the amount of time that will be required for you to succeed.

If it turns out you don’t want to prioritize or put the time in, you can quit for free. You won’t have lost a penny.

Don’t even tell anyone what your plans are. That way if you quit, you won’t have a hurt ego.

Keep your goal quiet so that no one can try to bring you down. Maximize all the chances you have to make your dream a reality.

Stop reading this and go get started. Time is ticking.
